What is VAT and VAT Registration For One Company in UAE?

Value Added Tax (VAT) was introduced in UAE on 01 January 2018. It is a transaction-based indirect tax levied at each stage of the supply chain and ultimately borne by the end consumer.

​What is the VAT rate in the UAE?

Standard VAT rate 5%: Applies to most of the goods and services which is defined as taxable under the VAT Law.

​VAT rate 0%: Applies to exports of goods and services and on some specified goods and services, such as healthcare-related goods and services.

​Also, some goods and services are exempt as well as out of scope from VAT in the UAE.

What are the criteria of VAT Registration in UAE?

Business and individuals (If supplying taxable goods and services) can register under UAE VAT on the following criteria’s:

​​1) Mandatory Registration: A business or individual must register for VAT, if there taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 in the last 12 months or expected to exceed in the next 30 days.

​2) Voluntary Registration: A business or individual may opt for VAT registration, if there taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 187,500 in the last 12 months or expected to exceed in the next 30 days but less than the mandatory limit of AED 375,000.

Who are not eligible for VAT Registration in UAE?

Business or individuals are not allowed to do VAT registration If their taxable supplies and import are less than AED 187,500 in last 12 months or not expected to exceed in next 30 days.​​​

Requirements for VAT

  • E-mail
  • Mobile number
  • Trade License or Commercial License copy
  • Passport copies of the owner or partners of the company
  • Emirates ID of the owners/ partners of companies.
  • Memorandum of Association (MOA)/ Article of Association (AOA).
  • Certificate of Incorporation (if Free Zone Company).
  • Complete Company Address with PO Box Number.
  • Company Bank Account details including IBAN in UAE.
  • Details other commercial entities of the owners/partners (if any)
  • The Monthly turnover declaration for the last 12 months.
  • Expected turnover in next 30 days.
  • Copy of Import/Export code certificate
  • Additional documents or authorization may be required depending on your business activity, the jurisdiction of business and other such factors.

OUR PROCESS

Payment of Starstorm Fees AED 299.

STEP 1

Submission of required information and documents to Starstorm.

STEP 2

Starstorm will submit the VAT Registration Application to the Federal Tax Authority.

STEP 3

Process of Submitted Application and resubmission of application if required.

STEP 4

Upon approval Tax Registration Certificate (TRN) will be sent on the client’s email.
