UAE Import-Export Code (IEC)

An Import-Export Code (IEC) issued by the relevant customs department in UAE is required to import goods from a foreign country into UAE or to export goods produced in UAE or to re-export goods earlier imported into UAE.

UAE has Emirates wise seven custom departments, namely Abu Dhabi Customs Department, Dubai Customs Department, Sharjah Customs Department, Ajman Customs Department, Umm Al Quwain Customs Department, Ras Al Khaima (RAK) Customs Department, and Fujairah Customs Department.

A company having a valid trade license issued by the UAE licensing authority with relevant trade activity can apply for UAE Import-Export Code (IEC).

  • Mobile number of the authorized person.
  • Copy of valid trade license.
  • Passport copy of the authorized person.
  • Emirates ID copy of the authorized person.
  • Undertaking letter on company letter head. (We will  provide the template).

What is a Customs Import Export Code ?

A Custom Import Code is a Code which is Allowed by UAE Custom department to a Business Entity to Import and Export Shipment from Rest of the World or From Freezone to Dubai Mainland. Any Company who has Valid Import Code can Import or Export Within Dubai. Usually, Customs Import Code is approved by the Client Relation Section in Dubai Customs.

What are the documents required for New Customs Import Export Code?

Following information and documents are required:

What is the validity of Customs/Import-Export Code?

Import export code will be valid for one year from the date of registration.The business code will be suspended, if it is not renewed within 60 days from its expiry date.

Who is eligible for UAE Customs/Import-Export Code?

Any UAE trading company with valid license can apply for Customs/Import-Export Code.

What is the process of renewal and what is the renewal fee of Customs/Import-Export Code?

Renewal application need to submit with valid trade license and undertaking letter. The renewal fees of Customs/Import-Export Code is only AED 25.

What is the process of amendment of Customs/Import-Export Code and the fees for the same?

Amendment application need to submit with the prof of amendment such as amended trade license. No fees are required for amendment unless there is a request for adding a new business type for which government fees is AED 120.
